Most books are a size that allows two pages per scan on this machine (assuming the binding allows sufficient flattening for that to be practical). As a practical matter, including turning the book pages and repairing the occasional placement or page orientation error, scans take 12 seconds per image for 300dpi scans. The second one is now at 300 books and still works fine. The first one died after about 200 books. I've owned the Plustek Opticbook 3600 and now the 3600 plus.
